Nats avoid the sweep with a nice powerful win!

(Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats)

The Washington Nationals did not want to be victim to the Pirates only sweep of the year, and with this win today — the Nats avoided that embarrassment. Patrick Corbin pitched 7.0 innings to earn this win that was powered by home runs from Luis Garcia, Alex Avila, and Lane ThomasContinue reading

Game #143 20 to go to reach 63

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The math is simple. There are 20-ganes remaining in this 2021 season, and the Washington Nationals must win at least five games to avoid a 100-loss season. They need a minimum .250 winning percentage to do that. Continue reading

Game #142 Gray to Ruiz is tonight’s battery

On this 20th anniversary of 9/11, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and New York City all suffered substantial loss of lives during the attacks on U.S. soil. Baseball unified so many when America’s game resumed in 2001. This game tonight between the Washington Nationals and the Pittsburgh Pirates has extra significance. Continue reading

Game #141 a weekend series in Pittsburgh!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The Washington Nationals plane touched down in Pittsburgh at 2:35 am. Players got to be just before 4 am. Just more sleep deprivation to start a weekend series.  The Nats enter this series with 58 wins, and the Pirates at 50 wins. There is very little chance the Nats could hop ahead of the Pirates in the standings for the biggest loser…hence getting the more favorable draft pick. Continue reading

Game #140 on getaway day from Atlanta!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The Braves are doing the Washington Nationals no favors on this getaway game. The Nats have a game tomorrow in Pittsburgh, and will once again have one of those 3 am late night arrivals because the Braves would not schedule an afternoon or early evening game. Thanks for nothing Braves!

After an electrified Nats win last night, the team from D.C. has a chance to win this series and put a serious hurting on the Braves who hold a narrow lead in the NL East with a tougher schedule remaining as compared to the Phillies who are in second place. Continue reading

Nats win! Nats win! One of the best wins of the season!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

What a win for the Washington Nationals. After Sean Nolin was ejected for throwing at Freddie Freeman, he was sent to the showers after just three batters and one out in the first inning. The bullpen had to get 26 outs to complete this 4-2 win over the first place Braves. Some would say the Braves woke up a sleeping dog a day after reliever Will Smith plunked Nats’ star Juan Soto in his back — a pitch that looked intentional. Smith and Soto have a history going back to Soto homering off of him last year on August 17. Continue reading

Game #139 Nats have a bigger issue with Alias Smith and Jones!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

There has been a superiority complex in Braves’ country long before Sheriff Brian McCann acted like an enforcer in Atlanta. Maybe it started with Chipper Jones and the years of NL East dominance in the 1990’s when his attitude came out, and the tomahawk chop became a thing even though it was deemed inappropriate. Yesterday, Will Smith went too far. Just like the irony in McCann acting like the Sheriff before being the same player implicated in the Astros’ cheating scandal, Smith has been known to be a jerk. Continue reading

Washington Nationals News: Robles Sent To Triple-A, Soto’s Milestone, More

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The Washington Nationals (57-81) have 24 games to go in what has been one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.  Since July 30, the season has been more about seeing what they have in the young controllable players in their system.  Continue reading

Game #138 starts the last series in Atlanta in 2021

TRUIST PARK | Atlanta, Georgia; Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

We are back in Atlanta for the final series in that city this year. A few of the Nats players get to sleep in their off-season homes as they are from the Atlanta area. For the rest, it is the team hotel. This team is starting to gel on offense, and it is good to see. Lane Thomas is embracing the lead-off role, Josh Bell is bashing again, and Juan Soto is making a statement to be considered in the MVP voting.
