Before You Submit a Support Request
This site runs on WordPress and utilizes third-party commenting platforms such as Disqus and wpDiscuz.
While we fully support the website itself—including all pages, features, and overall performance—please note that we do not control or develop these external commenting systems. Most issues reported in comments (such as login problems, avatar issues, or posting errors) are typically related to:
– The commenting platform itself (Disqus/wpDiscuz)
– Wi-Fi or connection interruptions
– Device or browser settings
– Account and login setup issues
Please check these factors before submitting a request. If you are reporting a site-specific bug, please include the page URL and a clear description so we can investigate it quickly.
Click on arrow or the text next to it to show/hide the details. Sometimes your browsers page text search can help find the relevant question/answer.
ACCOUNT & LOGIN
I am unable to login to my account.
Please double-check your credentials and be sure you are using both the correct username and password to login. If you have forgotten your password, you can user the “Forgot Password?” link on the login page.
I am being logged out of the website and being forced to log back in
This usually happens because of how your browser or device is handling login cookies — not because your account is broken.
Try these steps:
1. Make sure cookies are enabled
TalkNats uses secure cookies to keep you logged in.
If your browser blocks or clears cookies, you will be logged out frequently.
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies → Allow cookies
- Safari (iPhone & Mac): Settings → Safari → Turn OFF “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” and “Block All Cookies”
2. Avoid Private / Incognito windows
Private browsing modes automatically delete login data when you close the tab, which causes frequent logouts.
3. Mobile devices & Safari users
iPhones and iPads are more aggressive about clearing cookies.
If you use Safari and experience frequent logouts, we strongly recommend trying Chrome or Firefox on your device.
I have an active TalkNats subscription but can’t access members content.
Try the following steps
1, Log out and back in to the website.
2. Check your user account page to ensure you have an active subscription.
3. Check your internet connection. The website uses a third party service called Disqus for the comment discussion on posts, and that plugin can fail to load on weaker connections or while roaming.
Create a user id to login to TalkNats
Logins to the TalkNats site use WordPress. As a result you need create WordPress userid to use at TalkNats. Create your id. If you have a Google, Apple or GitHub account, you can use it. Alternatively, you can use your email. You will be prompted to enter a password.
How do I change my TalkNats/WordPress password
Go to the WordPress login page and click the Lost your password link.
Will the account that I previously used to log in to TalkNats still work.
Yes. We migrated those accounts. However, something may not have been carried forward. See the next question for how to update your settings.
Updating your display avatar and display text (Nickname)
Click on your name/avatar in the upper right corner and select Edit Preofile to update your Avatar or Nickname Or just click here.. There are three names: your “Username” (not editable), your “Nickname” (you can edit), and “Display name publicly as” which you use to pick if you want your username or nickname used.
COMMENTS & COMMENTING SYSTEM
Do I need to create a wpDiscuz id
Since wpDiscuz is a feature of WordPress (aka a Plug-In), your TalkNats/Wordpress id is what is used for wpDiscuz.
Can I be notified when someone replies to a comment I made.
Yes. We are still evaluating a number of real-time options. So please bear with us. There is a global option for email notification that is set to no. There is a bell (alert) icon next to the Post Comment button if you want to be notified of responses to a specific comment. You must change that before posting the comment.
Editing a comment
Once you have entered a comment you will see something like
If you don’t see that, click on the gear on the right side of the line with the up/down arrows. If the edit timeframe has not passed, you will see a link to edit your comment (NOTE: currently might only show the E – browser dependent).
How can I get a direct link to a comment
Hover over the line with the user name for the comment you want. You will see a chain link on the right. Click on it and a pop-up will display with a link to copy the link.
How do I delete a comment?
First step is the get a list of your comments. And then click the trash can icon next to the ones you want to delete.
How do I block someone whose comments I don’t want to see
At this time, wpDisquz does not support this feature.
Why is my comment not there
The most likely cause is that your comment included one of our banned words or perhaps included a link that did not appear to be trustworthy
How to I minizmize or collapse responses to a comment?
There is and up/down arrow to the right of the gear to any comment that has responses. Click the Up arrow to collapse them and the Down arrow to display them.
The Up/Down voting arrows don’t seem to work
The update is a bit displayed and if you hit it twice quickly, you turn it on, then off. Just click (and hold) it once and wait a few seconds.
What is the Most Reacted (lightning bolt) at the top of the comments?
This filter button is located in the top comment panel on the right side. When you click on this button, it loads the most reacted comment. The most reacted comment has the max number of likes and dislikes.
What is the Hottest Common Threads (the red drop) button?
Like the “Most reacted comments” filter button, this button is also located in the top comment panel on the right side. When you click on this button, it loads the hottest comment thread. The hottest comment thread has the max number of replies.
What is the Comment Bubble?
The Comment Bubble appears along the left hand side and is one of the notification features. It is a real-time updating sticky comment icon on your web pages. It invites people to comment, displays current comments information and notifies current page viewers about new comments.
Can wpDisquz expand Twitter links?
This requires the installation of another plug-in (Embeds) which could have undesirable side effects. Users are encouraged to not make comments that are bare twitter links. Bare links are comments with only a link and are considered a bad practice by many sites and are banned. wpDiscuz would require multiple plug-ins to do that.
Will Disqus comments on prior articles still be available?
They should continue to be available until Disqus is removed from the site
Can I get a list of all my comments in the current article/post?
Yes. Just click on the icon next to the number of comments as seen below. You can also page thru it to see comments in earlier articles. Note the 95 is the screenshot is the number of comments in the article when the screenshot was captured.
What is the upload file size limit?
The upload file size limit as installed was the same as it was under Disqus, 2MB. We have reset it to 4MB.
ACCESSIBILITY
What is the purpose of the Accessibility Menu
The accessibility window addresses the requirement that web sites be available to most everyone. It includes a number of features that can make the site more accessible, especially for the visually impaired. For example
- Change the font size
- Change the contrast
- Highlight links
- Increase/decrease the cursor size
- And more – click on it to see all the options. You can also review the video included in the response to the next question.
How do I change/hide the Accessibility Menu
Click on the accessibility button, scroll down to the gear and click it. You can then select the button’s placement as well as remmoving it. If you have a keyboard on your device, Cntl-U or Command-U will toggle it on/off.
We are still researching how to enable it if you you turned it off completely and don’t have a keyboard.
This video provides more insights on how to use it.
ABOUT THIS SITE
What We Control — and What We Don’t
We control the content and how TalkNats is set up and managed.
The site runs on platforms like WordPress, MemberPress, and our commenting system. We customize and maintain those tools — but we don’t build or control the underlying software.
Things like logins, avatars, usernames, and passwords are handled by those systems. When issues come up, we troubleshoot and do everything we can to help.
However, some problems come from third-party software we don’t control — and many of those providers offer limited or no direct support.
We appreciate your patience and continued support.
