Spring Training Game #11 Josiah Gray 2026 ST debut

Photo by Marlene Koenig for TalkNats

By the 11th game of Spring Training, you might not expect a significant debut. Well, this is Josiah Gray‘s first Spring Training start since 2024. It’s actually been over two years since Gray stepped onto a Grapefruit League mound for his first start in the 2024 season on his way to being the team’s Opening Day pitcher that season. Baseball threw Gray a curveball — and we will see how the rest of his career is defined as he makes his way back from TJ surgery during that 2024 season.

Mixed Weekend: Nats go 1-1-1 on the weekend in spring action: A Recap

It was a 1-1-1 weekend for the Nationals in Grapefruit League play that started with a 4-4 tie on Friday to a 3-2 win over the Mets on Saturday, and a 3-0 loss to the Marlins on Sunday. While that offensive output doesn’t have you or me jumping up and down, there were some really encouraging signs from the pitching staff this weekend. Another thing to consider, especially in Spring Training, the arms are always going to be ahead of the bats at the outset. Spring Training Game #10 The Lord’s day on the mound!

At some point, those projected starters will play a little deeper into games. That also doesn’t mean that the half-out crew isn’t working on the backfields back at the Nats’ Spring Training complex. Today, RHP Brad Lord gets the start for the Nationals.

The Washington Nationals finally make their first trip to Port St. Lucie on the final day in February to take on the Mets. Today’s lineup features several potential starting players and Jake Irvin on the mound. Everyone will be curious to see his velo on his 4-seam fastball today. He is throwing a lot more cutters in his pitch mix, and fewer 4-seam fastballs.

Spring Training Game #7 Nats are in Clearwater

The Washington Nationals bunked up for the night near Clearwater on the Gulf Coast side of Florida. Last night, they got clobbered by the Yankees in a lopsided game that was one hit from being no-hit. This afternoon, the Nats take on the rival Phillies in their Spring Training home in Clearwater. Jake Eder will get his second start in the Grapefruit League for the Nats.
