TAMPA, FL: The Florida version of Yankee Stadium (Sol Tucker/TalkNats)
Another night game, and this one is televised! The Nats travel to the Gulf Coast for this game against the New York Yankees. Andrew Alvarez is your scheduled starter for this one. We will see who the Nats brought to travel in this game as the team will face the Yankees today and the Phillies tomorrow in Clearwater before returning back to West Palm Beach for a Friday game against the Astros.
Teams are required to have “a minimum of four players who were regulars on a previous year’s Major League team or who were platooned on the previous year’s Major League team on a regular basis, or who have a reasonable chance to be regulars on the Major League Club’s squad during the upcoming season. The regulars are supposed to play a minimum of three complete innings.”
This is a 3 1/2 hour bus ride on a good day from West Palm Beach to Tampa. But many players want to play there and could ask to play.
And a flashback to the last time the Nats played the Yankees in Tampa almost three years to the day. The MLB Network crew got a little giddy with their predictions:
