Spring Training Game #14 Nats & Yankees

The Washington Nationals have a big game against the mighty New York Yankees for a Spring Training night game. The team is 6-4 with three ties so far through the first 13 games. Throw in the 5-1 win against Venezuela’s WBC team, and they are 7-4. Josiah Gray starts this game, and a source tells us that several top prospects will sub in later for this game.

Yesterday, Cade Cavalli pitched 4.0 innings against the Houston Astros and dominated with six strikeouts and zero earnies. The defense behind him wasn’t good and Cavalli still limited them to only one unearned run. As we mentioned on Friday, Cavalli lines up perfectly for Opening Day, albeit without any extra rest days,

The Nats have had 56 batters step into the batter’s box, and expect that number to keep growing after tonight’s game. Daylen Lile got his first official hit with a home run blast yesterday.

At this point, we only have 13 Spring Training games in the books and the one exhibition game, and no batter has more than 21 official plate appearances on the Washington Nationals. And for that matter, no pitcher has more than 5.0 innings in official games.
