Game #126 Nats in Yankee Stadium

The Washington Nationals open up a 3-game series in Yankee Stadium tonight, and the biggest story might be that Dylan Crews was officially promoted to Double-A today and joins an outfield with James Wood and Robert Hassell III as well as a lineup that has third baseman Brady House and infielder Trey Lipscomb. Also, team owner Mark Lerner sent out a press release today on the official extension of Dave Martinez‘s contract. The only thing missing is general manager Mike Rizzo’s extension is not completed.

New York native, Josiah Gray, is back in Yankee Stadium for the first time as an MLB pitcher. He had been in the stadium before as fan since he grew up in nearby New Rochelle. Gray starts today in a game that he must show a bounceback from three poor starts in a row.

The Nats will face lefty Carlos Rodon in this game, and that will give Carter Kieboom is first start. It will be at third base where he has struggled defensively in his short MLB career. Hopefully this is a new and improved Kieboom.

β€œIt’s fun, because I preach all the time about keeping things simple, doing the little things. The baserunning. Throwing strikes. Getting outs. Playing good defense. And it’s come to fruition. When you can do those things, you have a chance to win consistently. And we’ve been doing that for the last month. It’s been a lot of fun.”
