Game #115 The third game of this series

The Washington Nationals had one of those special games where Joey Meneses carried the offense with two home runs, and the bullpen went into shutdown mode.

Before the game, manager Dave Martinez made an announcement that the team was going to deploy a 6-man starting rotation, and utilize Joan Adon as that sixth starter. The issue is that the bullpen will be reduced to seven pitchers.

“As I always say, this team just keeps battling. You play hard for 27 outs, anything can happen in this ballpark. You just got to try to get the ball in the air.”

— manager Dave Martinez said

The Nats starting pitchers have a combined ERA of 4.75 for 22nd best in MLB.

Here is how they rank:

No. 5 Starter: Patrick Corbin 5.03
No. 4 Starter: Jake Irvin 5.00
No. 3 Starter: Trevor Williams 4.72
No. 2 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 4.34
No. 1 Starter: Josiah Gray 3.69
