Game #73 Nats need the ball to bounce their way!

The Washington Nationals are now stuck in a 9-game losing streak. That is hard to do with as good as the starting pitching has been — yet when you have only scored 35 runs in the past 14 games, the team is only scoring 2.5 runs per game on average. You literally have to give up at most 2-runs to have a chance to win on average.

Nats Extend Losing Streak to Nine In Heartbreaker: A recap

It was a sparse crowd of 11,370 on a rainy Monday night at Nats Park for Brady House‘s major league debut, and the team’s recent performance showed why. Following a disastrous weekend at home getting swept by the Marlins, there was hope that the arrival of one of the Nats’ top prospects would bring some much-needed juice to the ball club ahead of a four-game set against the last-place Colorado Rockies. That was far from the case.

Game #71 Can the line in the sand be erased?

The Washington Nationals are now stuck in a 7-game losing streak. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Nats’ manager Dave Martinez, during his postgame presser, drew a line in the sand to give his coaches a pass on any blame — and essentially put it all on the players to execute. Whatever happened to coaches putting players in the best situations to succeed? If Martinez doesn’t give an apology before today’s game, you have to wonder if he can survive this.

Blown win leads to 7th consecutive loss! Davey Martinez blames the players in ‘Never on Coaches’ defense!

The Washington Nationals had runners on third base and first with no outs in the 9th inning. The score was a 4-3 deficit against the Miami Marlins. All the Nats needed was a productive out to tie it. They couldn’t do it, and the difference in the game goes back to a dropped pop-up by Luis Garcia Jr. in the 8th inning.

Game #70 Team Balance is off-kilter. Is the manager checked out?

The Washington Nationals are now stuck in a 6-game losing streak. It is all about the imbalance on this team between offense, defense, pitching, and coaching decisions. And yes, once again, in key spots, the umpiring was horrific. From the first batter Jose A. Ferrer faced to the last batter, he didn’t get clear and obvious strike calls. That shook Ferrer at a time that his team erased all but 1-run from a 6-run deficit. Ferrer gave back 3-runs, the Nats scored two more, but fell two runs short in the end at 11-9 to the Marlins.

Game #69 Nats are back home in need of a Curly W!

The Washington Nationals are now stuck in a 5-game losing streak. Last night, they needed one productive out in the 9th inning to tie the game with no outs, and the tying run standing on third base. The Nats went scoreless until the 9th inning when they plated three runs and made it a 4-3 game. But three consecutive outs on the infield turned it into another one-run loss.
