Click to Read an Important Member Update Regarding Our Comment System
We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.

The Washington Nationals are America’s team in baseball, and in the BBWAA’s votes for MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year voting, the Nats’ Daniel Murphy took home the silver in the MVP, Max Scherzer took home the gold in the Cy, Trea Turner took home the silver in the ROY, and Dusty Baker took home the bronze in the MOY.
In all, the Nats tied the country of Slovenia who also had the same medal distribution in their 4 medals in the 2016 summer Olympics in Judo (2), Sailing, and Kayak. Continue reading →
I am very excited to be helping to plan the 1st Annual TalkNats Trip to CitiField Event on Saturday, June 17, 2017!!!! This is going to be a fun event for all Nats fans and friends who want to join in!
This certainly deserves a shout-out to the Half St. Irregulars who showed Nats fans that they can travel on the road and make this team proud and this city proud. I know there are several people in that group who are regulars here. They put together a great trip! Not to be outdone, a Mets group who call themselves 7 Line Army did a self-described invasion of Nats Park (LINK here) in September that totaled 1,261 according to their web page.
We have reserved tickets in the Big Apple Reserved Seats at Citi Field (see picture above) and you have 2 options for purchasing your spots to watch the Bryce, Trea, and the Nats meet and beat the Mets with your fellow Nats fans!!
2) Ticket, T-Shirt, and Coach Bus (Leaves from Nats Park near Gate A players lot) – $40 additional per person for the bus
(Bus tentatively leaves at 7:30am, returns after the game). The bus option is limited to the 1st 100 people, however, if more want to go by bus we will then add more buses as the demand is there on a waiting list basis for bus spaces after that.) Note that the game could potentially have a later start and if so, we will move the pickup and drop-off accordingly.
BONUS: If we get at least 350 people, we will be able to bring our group onto the Warning Track pre-game for the National Anthem, and we expect other perks if we can get to 350 tickets so please tell everyone you know to purchase tickets. We are also working on some additional special perks to make this a great event for you, your friends, and your family! Special guests who are confirmed to attend include Steve “Ghost” Mears, Andrew “Allstars” Lang, and many of your favorite armchair GMs and rabid Nats fans. We think JD from New York will drive over and be part of this, and there are so many more people who are regular readers that have contacted me who don’t even post on the site.
We also plan to have an adults bus and a family bus for people who want to bring kids with them so please let me know which bus you want to be on. Again, if you want tickets only and provide for your own transportation, that is fine also.
If you have seat mates and other friends, invite them if you want to as the tickets are discounted and through my events company I was able to get a large discount on the bus. This is a great opportunity for anyone who has wanted to travel to another stadium to see the Nats and can do this with a group.

The Free Agent market is heating up and we’re debating here at TalkNats about signing Fowler or Cespedes or perhaps going “cheap” with a guy like Jon Jay or Carlos Gomez. Free Agency started forty years ago in 1976, and player contracts have skyrocketed year after year ever since then. I thought it would be interesting to assign grades to free agent contracts from recent years to try to gain insight on whether the risk of a long-term, high-money contract is an acceptable risk.
First, let’s look at the most recent 2015-2016 FA class:
I assigned 5 As, 2Bs, 4Cs, 7Ds, and 2 Fs (Chen and Heyward). Equally weighting the grades on a 0-4 typical grade point scale, I arrive at a GPA of 2.05, or a solid C. Continue reading →
The Baseball Writer’s Association of America (BBWAA) have already revealed the finalists for the NL Rookie of the Year award. The top three in votes are Kenta Maeda, Corey Seager, and Trea Turner. The award show begins at 6p.m. ET on the MLB Network, and it is a certainty that Corey Seager will win the award because he was able to play 157 games and was consistently very good for the 2016 season. Trea Turner did not have the same opportunity as he started the season in Triple-A Syracuse. Continue reading →
