Game #137 Andrew Alvarez’s debut game!

The Washington Nationals have a pair of debuts today with Andrew Alvarez as their starting pitching and CJ Stubbs as his catcher. While Stubbs came up last week to replace the injured Drew Millas, Alvarez essentially replaces MacKenzie Gore in the rotation. The Nationals took advantage of their two September callups to bring up Alvarez and Nasim Nunez.

Postgamer #136: Nats Complete 0-7 Week, Swept By Rays At Home: A Recap

The Nationals capped off a winless week and extended their losing streak to eight games with a 7-4 loss to the Rays this afternoon. Brad Lord followed up his worst career start with an even worse one this afternoon, going just three innings and allowing seven runs. It just feels like every game this week, and most of the season for that matter, has blended together, and not in a good way.

Game #135 Saturday in the Park

The Washington Nationals are finishing up their August schedule in this final weekend of the month, while currently mired in a 6-game losing streak. The Nats went 0-12 with RISP and left 13 runners on-base in last night’s game that resulted in a 4-1 loss. That is a new level of ineptitude.

Postgamer #133: Nats Smacked After Historically Bad Third Inning: A Recap

I sat on my couch, head in my hands, in utter shock at what I was witnessing during this afternoon’s circus-show of a performance. We’ve seen Nats pitching have blowup innings; that’s nothing new. But in the bottom of the third inning this afternoon, the Nationals gave us the mother of all blowup innings. Cade Cavalli and Shinnosuke Ogasawara, in one single inning (that took 41 minutes by the way), allowed nine runs on five homers, faced 16 batters, and needed 77 pitches to get three outs.

Postgamer #132: Nats Strand Nine On-Base In Another Loss: A Recap

Let, me preface this article by quickly giving an apology/an explanation. I’ve been pretty awful the last couple weeks about getting one of these out for every game, and I’ve discussed this with Steve already, I know it’s a non-issue for 99% of you, but I do still feel responsible. I am a full-time college student as a lot of you know, and the first couple of weeks back on campus have been a swarm of things I need to do for the various organizations I serve in, and there’s just some nights where it isn’t possible for me to get to my article. I know you all are tremendous supporters, I’m thankful for every one of you, which is why I felt you all deserved an explanation.
