Game #60 Nats wrapup with the Padres

The Washington Nationals are tied 1-1 in this series in a winner-take-all game. The Nats will start Zack Littell who is coming off his longest start of the year. The Nats bullpen is taxed, even with that day-off on Thursday. We will see how manager Blake Butera sets this game up in hopes of a Nats win to finish the month of May.

Game #59 Nats have to restart from .500

The Washington Nationals were on a run until Wednesday, and the day-off on Thursday, certainly didn’t help the pitching yesterday. After consecutive losses in two games, the Nats have to fight back to win this one to get back over .500

Postgamer #57: An error ends the Nats winning streak. Once again, bad defense turns to a loss.

The Washington Nationals four game winning streak came to an end. One error brought in three runs in a 3-2 loss. What is the saying about bad defense? The Nats have a day-off tomorrow and head back to Washington at one game over .500.

As you may have heard, there is a baseball game today — and your normal host for the past 12 seasons, Steve Mears, has left to start a new site. Stay here if you want, or in fairness to Steve, he can be found here: https://nats.talkdcsports.com/2026/05/27/game-57-keep-on-winning/

Postgamer #56: This is real right?? Nats improve to two games over .500, win another road series: A recap

On a day that featured celebrations of all kinds after the Nationals finally cracked an above-.500 record last night, including a literal parade in DC (shoutout Grant and Danny), the Nationals added to the party with their fourth consecutive win. This one started similarly to last night’s game, as the Nats’ hitters did an unbelievable job of grinding out at-bats against Cleveland’s starter, Joey Cantillo. After Washington put up a four-run second inning to take a 4-0 lead, Cantillo’s pitch count was already at 69 pitches despite only having six outs under his belt. The early offense was supplemented by another great outing by Cade Cavalli, and a three-inning relief appearance by Mitchell Parker to slam the door on Cleveland, and hand the Nationals another series victory over a good ball club.

Game #56 It’s been years!

The Washington Nationals enter tonight’s game at one game over .500 with a 28-27 record. If the Nats win tonight to go two games over .500, the last time the Nationals have been at that level in the mid-season would have been June 30, 2021 — the high mark of that season.

Postgamer #55: Nats use a power surge to crush Guardians and gain a winning record on the season: A recap

For the first time since the 2018 season, the Washington Nationals have a winning record in the month of May. Not just May either, but late May. Meaning the Nats have an opportunity to go a step further this year and hold an above-.500 record in the month of June, something we haven’t sniffed through the rebuild years thus far. And what a way they did it. The Nationals clubbed six home runs over the first five innings, including five against Cleveland starter, Tanner Bibee.

That unreal power surge was supplemented by Zack Littell‘s best start of the season, throwing the final seven innings after PJ Poulin took care of the first two, and with that, the Nationals are now a 28-27 team. What a dream this season has been so far, let’s get into what was one of the most fun wins of the season.

Game #55 A math lesson on an odd number game

The Washington Nationals are in Cleveland for Memorial Day. They enter this game with a .500 record, and a math lesson says an odd numbered game like 55 cannot be evenly divided by two. Either the Nats go to their hotel tonight with a winning record or a losing record. Basically, the 27-27 Nats will either be 28-27 or 27-28 after this game. The former would be incredible for the team and the fan base.
