Game #118 Nats trying to win a series tonight

The Washington Nationals won last night in a blow-out, but had a couple of medical issues to deal with. The most serious was a hit-by-pitch on Lane Thomas’ wrist that scratched him from today’s lineup. The other issue was leg cramps for pitcher Joan Adon that will have to be resolved because this is a recurring issue. The good news is that Keibert Ruiz stayed in the game last night, and said he felt fine after a foul tip off of his knee.

Game #117 has the A’s in town

The Washington Nationals got to rest most of the back of their bullpen, and that was not by design, unfortunately. The Nats had a narrow 1-0 lead until Andres Machado gave up the lead in an instant with a two-run homer. Machado had been nails since his recent callup — so we will have to see how he pitches in his next appearance. An inning later, the 1-0 lead was a 6-1 deficit, and we quickly learned that using Joe La Sorsa for two innings might not be the way to utilize him in the future. Lessons learned, as the surging Nats were on a 4-1 road trip until they took losses on Wednesday and Thursday to return to D.C. with a 50-66 record.

Game #116 Looking for a split

The Washington Nationals have a rested back of the bullpen as they have only pitched one game in the past three days, and the hope is that manager Dave Martinez will need his high leverage bullpen to seal a win in the final game of this 4-game series in Philadelphia.

The 3 top prospects shined simultaneously for a bright Nats’ future!

Last night, there was a moment leading up to 8:35 pm ET that the Washington Nationals Top-3 prospects, Dylan Crews, James Wood, and Brady House were all simultaneously 2-for-3 in their games in-progress. All of that changed in an instant when Crews obliterated a first-pitch fastball for a grand slam at 8:35 pm ET. Crews finished his evening with a monster 4-for-5 game plus a walk, and Wood and House finished with 2-for-3s and each one had matching bruises as a reminder of being tattooed via a hit-by-pitch. That is a combined 8-for-11 with a grand slam home run, two doubles, a walk, and two hit-by-pitches. All of that could be coming to a Nats’ lineup near you in the future.

Game #113 A doubleheader in Philly

The Washington Nationals are facing a few of the ex-Washington Nationals in Philadelphia in a key doubleheader for the Phillies. There is actually one fewer ex-Nats’ player as Josh Harrison was released. The Nats’ starter in the first game today is Trevor Williams, as he returned from an extended leave on the bereavement list, and the Nats had to skip his start on Saturday. He will have to face a trio of ex-Nats in Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, and Bryce Harper. By the way, Harper said after Sunday’s game that he wished that he started his career in Philadelphia. Is he still upset that the Nats won a World Series just 8-months after he signed with the Phillies?
