Game #118 Nats trying to win a series tonight

The Washington Nationals won last night in a blow-out, but had a couple of medical issues to deal with. The most serious was a hit-by-pitch on Lane Thomas’ wrist that scratched him from today’s lineup. The other issue was leg cramps for pitcher Joan Adon that will have to be resolved because this is a recurring issue. The good news is that Keibert Ruiz stayed in the game last night, and said he felt fine after a foul tip off of his knee.

The bullpen had to 6.0 innings last night with Jordan Weems carrying the bulk of the work throwing 32 pitches over 2.0 full innings. Cory Abbott covered 1 1/3 innings and Robert Garcia covered 1 2/3 with Jose Ferrer covering 1.0 inning. Manager Dave Martinez will have to hope that starter Jake Irvin can go at least 6.0 quality innings tonight with a big Nats’ lead.

“Cramps. Legs cramped up on him. Second time. He cramped up in Cincinnati as well. So we got to figure out how to get him [right], whether it’s drinking more fluids, we don’t know yet. I saw him drink a lot. But both his legs were cramped up.
