Game #101 as the Nats face another lefty

The Washington Nationals scored six runs and threw out two runners at the plate last night as part of three outfield assists. Of course they had to win last night, right? Wrong. Patrick Corbin was tagged for five earnies and the bullpen couldn’t throw zeros which turned into a 10-6 loss.

Corbin was a victim of some extreme bad luck on some of the ball that fell in for hits, and even the home run was a slider at the bottom of the zone to a lefty on the first pitch of the at-bat.

Tonight the Nats’ have Trevor Williams on the mound going up against a lefty, Austin Gomber, and manager Dave Martinez will insert righties Michael Chavis and Stone Garrett into his lineup.

“We made some mistakes. A couple of mistakes uncharacteristic to ourselves.”

— manager Dave Martinez said

The Nats starting pitchers have a combined ERA of 4.60 for 19th best in MLB. The Nats are within 9 points of leapfrogging three teams for 16th best.

Here is how they rank:

No. 5 Starter: Patrick Corbin 5.01
