Game #15 with the hopes that the 3rd time is the charm for Corbin!

Tonight marks the third scheduled start for Patrick Corbin this season. After two straight poor outings, we have to hope the third time is the charm. Manager Dave Martinez was optimistic about Corbin’s side session bullpen he had on Sunday. The Washington Nationals had just gotten on a roll with two wins in a row on Friday and Saturday before two consecutive losses. The team is an horrific 5-9 at this point in the season, and they just cannot find that level of consistency to win any games with ease.

“Corbin threw really well between starts. We were slowing him down,”  Martinez said. “He pounded the strike zone. His slider was sharp.”

Okay, we can only hope that Corbin is as sharp in this game as what Martinez observed in that side session. If not, the taxed bullpen will be called on early you would hope. The team sent Ryne Harper back to the Alternate Training Site and called up starter Steven Fuentes as the long-man if Corbin falters.

The Cardinals are sending RHP Adam Wainwright to the mound. The Nats saw him last week and the scouting report hasn’t changed. Smash the weak fastball, and don’t swing at his curveball which usually dips towards the lefthander’s batters box out of the zone.

The Nats manager will roll out the same lineup as last night. Lets hope they can push runs across the plate with no outs and runners in scoring position.
