Game #9 Strasburg and Verlander face-off!

The Nationals play the road team against their FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches neighbors today in a powerhouse match-up of Justin Verlander and Stephen Strasburg. The two faced each other on this same field a year ago when Verlander was with the Tigers.

On the Grapefruit opener the Nats and Astros played each other, and this is their second head-to-head game. Both pitchers are expected to throw at least three innings today, and the Nationals will only have Bryce Harper as a regular in today’s line-up. While many regulars played yesterday, Anthony Rendon last appeared in a game on Wednesday when he committed two errors in one inning and has not been seen since then.

The Nationals will once again be playing without Adam Eaton and Daniel Murphy, and nobody is expecting to see Murphy for a while.

When Stephen Strasburg was drafted, he got many comparisons to Justin Verlander because of their similar repertoires as power pitchers. Max Scherzer was Verlander’s teammate for five years with the Detroit Tigers. By 2013, it was Scherzer who was the ace of the Tigers staff and he earned his first Cy Young award.

For some good news, the Astros have you covered on both TV and radio today if you have the MLB App or access to their local signals.
