In-Game, Nats going for R-E-S-P-E-C-T with Strasburg pitching 9/9/15

This is no longer a must win game.  This is a “keep our respect win game”.  If you told me that Matt Harvey would give up 7 runs and JZim would only give up 1 run, I’d say the Nats were back to 4 games back and tonight was another “must win”.  Tonight is just about respect.

Is tonight the night we see a different line-up to shake things up?  The line-up doesn’t appear to be the problem with this team.  Starting pitching and the bullpen have been the problem.  There are contributions from every member of the line-up and clearly they aren’t the reason the Nats have lost lately.

Is it time to say Trea Turner needs to start every day and you start him in a Hi Lev game? If Trea Turner is the future, do you put him at 2nd base tonight and Rendon at 3rd and Espi at SS or another alignment.

You always have to keep an eye on the future, and is tonight as good of a time as any?

No Trea Turner as you would expect in the line-up but unfortunately no Ryan Zimmerman and no Michael Taylor and Yunel Escobar.

UPDATES: In-Game Harvey & JZim face-off! No RZim!

Many of us have said this series with the Mets is like the playoffs.  The implications are huge for tonight.  If these are like the playoffs then we can hope the results from JZim are like Game 2 of the 2014 playoffs where JZim went 8 2/3 personally giving up no runs, and that’s how you beat another team’s ace—you just pitch better than them.

Harvey brings his 166 1/3 cumulative innings of work to the mound. Harvey in his last start vs the Phillies gave up 4 earned in 6 1/3 innings.  Also, Harvey has a road ERA of 2.80 this sesaon, and Jordan Zimmermann has a home ERA of 2.52 this season.  It makes this for a good showdown of pitchers on virtual paper.

If you’re going to the game which I expect many of you are, stay longer so we don’t have a repeat of this: BRYCE HARPER UNHAPPY WITH FANS EARLY EXIT

When a win isn’t a win until the game is over! Nats blow a 5-3 lead.

To have the lead on the go-ahead Grand Slam in the 4th and even hold it into the end of the 5th was a win you must get:

The Nats had a few more highlights and all the momentum leading 5-3 and had opportunities to add on……like pinch-hitting for Scherzer in the 5th with men on 3rd and 2nd and 2 outs.

In-Game, the post-season showdown starts today

The Nats have a showdown at the Nats Park.  They better come ready to fight because today starts the road to improving their chances to making the postseason.  The Nats are 4 games behind the team they will be playing today.  This is where the Nats control their own destiny instead of relying on other teams to beat the Mets the Nats take them on themselves.

The biggest game of the season is today.  If there was ever a must-win, it is today for the Nats.
