Postgamer #108: Burn The Tape, Nats Mauled In Houston: A Recap

The month of July was not kind to Mackenzie Gore, and this afternoon, amid swirling rumors connecting him to multiple potential trade destinations, he certainly didn’t make himself look any better. To be clear, nobody in a Nationals uniform did much to make themselves look good today; it was just yet another instance of the Nats playing horribly with a series win on the line.

Game #108 The Final Game Before the Trade Deadline

The Washington Nationals are just over 24-hours from the 6pm ET trade deadline tomorrow. Yesterday, the team flew Zach Brzykcy to Houston per TalkNats’ sources in case a trade was completed before the start of the game. Most believe Kyle Finnegan and Michael Soroka will be traded soon. This afternoon’s scheduled starting pitcher, MacKenzie Gore, has been part of several trade rumors. Will this be his final start in a Nationals uniform?

Today is also a getaway game. The Nationals will fly back to Washington D.C. after the game ahead of a day-off tomorrow on trade deadline day.

Postgamer #107: Nats Play A Sluggish Game Two, Fall In Houston: A Recap

We knew the winning streak would have to end at some point. I would’ve liked to see it last a little longer than three days, but that’s baseball. Compared to the high-energy style of play that we’ve seen from this team over the past few days, tonight wasn’t really a huge fall from that trend; they were just out-executed on numerous occasions throughout tonight’s game.

Game #107 The Nats are 48-hours from the Trade Deadline

The Washington Nationals are just 48-hours from the 6pm ET trade deadline on Thursday. The team flew Zach Brzykcy to Houston in case a trade is completed before the start of today’s game. Tonight’s starting pitcher, Michael Soroka, is most likely making his final start in a Nationals uniform as he has been named in several trade deals.

Postgamer #106: Nats Win Low Scoring Affair To Start Series: A Recap

The Washington Nationals struck out 19 times against Framber Valdez and a host of Astros’ relievers tonight. The offense didn’t do much, but they did just enough to supplement a tremendous performance by the pitching staff tonight. And in the end, two key hits were enough for a 2-1 Nats’ win.

Game #106 Nats are back in Houston!

The Washington Nationals are back to the stadium where they won the World Series in 2019. Beside Jose Altuve and first base coach Gerardo Parra, both teams have almost completely turned over their rosters from that 2019 season. But but but all teams but the Nats keep their star players. Sure.

For the Astros, they have their ace, Framber Valdez, on the mound and interim-manager Miguel Cairo will sit lefties James Wood and Luis Garcia Jr. to start this game. This is a rare start for Daylen Lile against a lefty. A big test to see if he can be more than a platoon bat against only right-handed starting pitchers.

Postgamer #105: Nats Get a Hometown Gem from Irvin to Take the Series: A Recap

It’s been 53 days since a Nationals starting pitcher completed seven innings, that stretch came to an end this afternoon in Minnesota. Jake Irvin, pitching in front of hundreds of family and friends, gave the Nationals a tremendous 7.0 inning performance this afternoon. And thanks to some timely hitting, Irvin guided the Nats to their second straight series win.

Game #105 Nats looking for another series win!

The Washington Nationals inconsistent offense went from 0-0-to-9 last night in such a 2025 Nats’ way, once again beating an All-Star pitcher after two straight games of being shutout. The Nats send their Minnesota kid to the mound this afternoon in Jake Irvin.

Postgamer #104: Nats’ Bats Power Up In Minneapolis, Series Even At One: A Recap

Consistency. That’s all you can ask from an offense, and while it may elude even the top teams in the league at times, the Nats are the polar opposite of that. After going 23 innings without scoring a single run, the offense came alive against the Twins best pitcher, All-Star Joe Ryan tonight.

The run totals for the Nats in games this week were: 1, 10, 6, 0, 0, 9. I’ve never seen a more feast-or-famine situation from a team, but this has been a pretty accurate summary of how this entire season has gone for the Nationals. That being said, let’s get into the upbeat stuff and talk about how tonight’s win went down.
