After one of the best wins of the Washington Nationals season, this team has to show that they can do it again and again. As you know from my previous columns, I dispense with the prospect rankings and their click-baiting that tell me to get overheated for Carter Kieboom while ignoring the staying power of Yadiel Hernandez; fixate on drafted talents while overlooking the fruits plucked from elsewhere like Sam Clay and Kyle Finnegan; drool in direct proportion to the bonus a young player receives while ignoring a player rising through the system who is lights out. This game lived up to the expectations of dueling aces on the mound, and it was Max Scherzer who bested Zack Wheeler for the Curly W in a 2-1 game, and Scherzer’s 180th career win. Both pitchers went into the 8th inning of this game which is something you rarely see. The game winning RBI game from a Juan Soto solo oppo bomb. Out of the bullpen with four outs to get to seal the victory, Daniel Hudson and Brad Hand finished the game off in the bullpen. Continue reading

This four-game series for the Washington Nationals concludes today in an early afternoon finale at Truist Park. The Nats are up 2-1 in this series and will face another starting lefty in this one. The Braves lead the season series 6-3, and this game looms large for both teams. The Braves originally had Ian Anderson scheduled to start this game, and they moved him to tomorrow and changed their starter to TBD then announced they would call-up Tucker Davidson to make a spot start. On short-rest, Jon Lester gave it everything he had over 5 2/3 innings and 87 hard fought pitches to hold the Braves to just one run. Lester exited with a 3-1 lead that was blown by a combination of Tanner Rainey and Daniel Hudson, but Hudson redeemed himself for a perfect 8th inning to keep it a 3-3 tie until Yan Gomes slugged a 426 foot bomb to put the Nats up for good for the win behind a Brad Hand save. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the depleted Nats will pitch Jon Lester tonight on three day’s rest. Because of last Friday’s rainout, the Nats needed to improvise for a starter for this game. Lester only threw 74 pitches in the game, and became the natural choice for manager Dave Martinez to do this for the team even though Lester has only pitched once in the last 10 years on short rest. Also, Martinez will rest the “hot” Ryan Zimmerman and go with Josh Bell tonight in the cleanup spot. Continue reading

It has been a while since we have seen the Washington Nationals winner’s circle! The 5-game losing streak is over! Unfortunately, Stephen Strasburg left the game with tightness in this right trapezius muscle which is between the neck and shoulder. Austin Voth carried the Nats lead into the 5th inning, and Wander Suero, Daniel Hudson, and Brad Hand had to pick up a lot of pitches in this one. Continue reading

We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
