The Washington Nationals have a big game against the mighty New York Yankees for a Spring Training night game. The team is 6-4 with three ties so far through the first 13 games. Throw in the 5-1 win against Venezuela’s WBC team, and they are 7-4. Josiah Gray starts this game, and a source tells us that several top prospects will sub in later for this game.

The Washington Nationals only wish that Spring Training W/L records counted at this point. The team is 6-3 with three ties so far through the first 12 games. Throw in the 5-1 win against Venezuela’s WBC team, and they are 7-3. Dream big because the Nats start to the regular season begins in Wrigley Field against the Cubs, then they face the Phillies, and the Dodgers for their first three series. Talk about a tough schedule to start 2026, and we still don’t know who will be he Nats’ Opening Day starting pitcher.

The main observation of Washington Nationals camp in West Palm Beach is technology, work ethic, and smiles. It is everywhere. There is effort with a purpose and positivity. At every turn there are player development people monitoring multiple screens of information. You have heard about the Rapsodo, Trackman, Statcast, and Trajekt Arc. There is much more than that. Now they have incorporated new training tools and wearable technology in addition to other tech.

The Washington Nationals beat a stacked Venezuela WBC team last night by a final score of 5-1 in a game capped by a 3-run homer by Keibert Ruiz who is Venezuelan. Ruiz was born in Valencia, Venezuela, and probably wanted to show his countrymen that he should have been on their roster. Another proud Venezuelan, Anibal Sanchez, threw out the ceremonial first pitch as a distinguished member of the Nats 2019 World Series team.

The Nationals got the privilege last night of playing the Venezuelan national team in West Palm Beach before they begin WBC (World Baseball Classic) pool play later this week. A neat opportunity for the Nats to face a lineup featuring names like Ronald Acuna Jr., Luis Arraez, Salvador Perez, Jackson Chourio, Eugenio Suarez, Wilyer Abreu, Willson Contreras, and Andres Gimenez. Even cooler, the Nationals not only won, but held Venezuela to just one run.

After a team day-off on Tuesday, the Washington Nationals are back at it tonight for an exhibition game against the Venezuelan team assembled for the World Baseball Classic. This will also be the spring debut for Foster Griffin who has only pitched on the minor league side of camp to this point. Griffin received the largest contract amount of any Nats acquisition during the offseason.

By the 11th game of Spring Training, you might not expect a significant debut. Well, this is Josiah Gray‘s first Spring Training start since 2024. It’s actually been over two years since Gray stepped onto a Grapefruit League mound for his first start in the 2024 season on his way to being the team’s Opening Day pitcher that season. Baseball threw Gray a curveball — and we will see how the rest of his career is defined as he makes his way back from TJ surgery during that 2024 season.

It was a 1-1-1 weekend for the Nationals in Grapefruit League play that started with a 4-4 tie on Friday to a 3-2 win over the Mets on Saturday, and a 3-0 loss to the Marlins on Sunday. While that offensive output doesn’t have you or me jumping up and down, there were some really encouraging signs from the pitching staff this weekend. Another thing to consider, especially in Spring Training, the arms are always going to be ahead of the bats at the outset. It takes time for these hitters to get their timing back into full gear and get comfortable against elite-level pitching, so low-scoring games in the spring are nothing to be overly concerned about yet.

We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
