This is a positive which you might not be able to tell by the title. Many of the top baseball teams have taken their long-term and successful general managers and elevated them to the President of Baseball Operations positions, allowing them to hire a general manager under them. Theo Epstein did that with the Cubs, Andrew Friedman with the Dodgers, Farhad Zahidi with the Giants, and John Mozeliak with the Cardinals, and on and on. Continue reading

With last night’s game postponed due to rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ian, the Washington Nationals and New York Mets will play an afternoon game followed by a second game for a doubleheader. With the Braves losing last night, the Mets still have a small glimmer of hope of winning the NL East which would require the Braves to get swept today and tomorrow by the Marlins and the Mets to sweep the Nats. First of all, happy birthday to CJ Abrams who is celebrating his 22nd birthday today in the Big Apple. Just last week, Abrams hit his first walk-off in his MLB career. The 22-year-old will certainly have a lot of firsts. That happens when you are new to the league and just 42-games in his Washington Nationals’ career. The question might be, do the Nats tie up Abrams for the long-term now? That’s the multi-million dollar question. To state my obvious to the question, “I do.”

With the remnants of Hurricane Ian heading to Washington, D.C. they decided on Thursday to make today a single afternoon game and make Friday a split-day/night doubleheader, but last night’s game was rained out. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
