Click to Read an Important Member Update Regarding Our Comment System
We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.

We’re officially underway at all four levels in the minor leagues, and that prompts the start of Minors Mondays (okay, technically it’s Tuesday) here on TalkNats. (editor’s note: This was written while Monday’s game was in play, prompting us to post it this morning). Now to the Minors’ report:
The Washington Nationals had just two extra-base hits Monday night to open their three-game set with the Los Angeles Angels, but it did the job, as pitching held both Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout to a combined 0-for-8 clip. The Nats had 12 singles and a lot of hustle that gave them enough to push over six runs to win 6-4.
The Washington Nationals arrived in Los Angeles to play their American League team. The Angels have a lot of new faces this year, but still have two names that everyone should know in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Nats fans of course know their third baseman, Anthony Rendon, and those are the main three that the Nats will have to deal with plus Ohtani on the pitcher’s mound tomorrow.

On Saturday, James Wood collected his first hit of the 2023 season in game one of the Wilmington Blue Rocks doubleheader. It will undoubtably be the first of many for the Top-10 prospect in all of baseball.
It was a first for Elijah Green, the Washington Nationals’ 2022 first-round draft pick, and a top prospect, as he gave the fans a show today, and showed why Nationals fans can be excited about things to come. This was a great debut weekend for the Nats’ Class-A Fredericksburg affiliate to open their season — and have the weekend finish up on Green’s first pro walk-off.
The Washington Nationals fell to the Colorado Rockies Sunday, 7-6, to close out the four-game weekend series. In the four innings that there was scoring, just one of those innings had only one team score in the back-and-forth affair. The gifts given by Brad Hand and the Colorado bullpen were returned and more by the Nats’ bullpen.
After 27 starts for the Colorado Rockies last year, Chad Kuhl now enters from the visiting clubhouse when he arrives today for his Washington Nationals. Kuhl pitched better by more than 1 1/4 runs in Coors Field last year than he did on the road. This is what the Nats hope will help them today in their finale in Colorado. In this four-game series, the visitors from Washington have pocketed two wins so far and can win their first series with a curly W today.
Fredericksburg Nationals Head Coach Jake Lowery has a way of connecting with his players that most coaches wish they could have. He has the ability to relate to them and connect on a deeper level because he played in this league not too long ago. He knows how to have fun but also when to get serious.
“We’re the Freddies. We’re gonna have fun, but when it’s time to take the field, we’re gonna be serious with it.”
— Jake Lowery on Media Day
This quote perfectly encapsulates the team’s approach to the game. They know how to have fun and enjoy themselves, but they also know when it’s time to get serious and put in the hard work.
As expected, Luis Garcia was not in the Washington Nationals’ lineup in Saturday’s 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies after suffering a hamstring injury in Friday’s victory. Michael Chavis started at second base over Garcia on Saturday.
