Game #11 Nats are in the City of Angels

The Washington Nationals arrived in Los Angeles to play their American League team. The Angels have a lot of new faces this year, but still have two names that everyone should know in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Nats fans of course know their third baseman, Anthony Rendon, and those are the main three that the Nats will have to deal with plus Ohtani on the pitcher’s mound tomorrow.

The Nats will face, Jose Suarez, another lefty starter tonight, and the lineup will have both Dom Smith and CJ Abrams as the only batters who will swing the bat from the left-hander’s box. Luis Garcia will sit again with that hammy tweak. So much for no big deal. With both Smith, Alex Call, and Joey Meneses in the lineup, Stone Garrett will sit which was not met on social media as a positive.

By the way, the Nationals reported before the game that manager Dave Martinez was not feeling well, and we will see if he is in the dugout tonight. If he is not, bench coach Tim Bogar will take over the managing duties.

Here are your Nationals starting pitcher’s ERAs through yesterday’s game:

No. 5 Starter: Chad Kuhl 8.10 ERA
No. 4 Starter: Patrick Corbin 8.00
No. 3 Starter: Josiah Gray 4.91
No. 2 Starter: Trevor Williams 4.35
No. 1 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 2.38

The numbers were trending better for the Nats’ starters until Kuhl got lit up in Colorado. Corbin gets his third trip through the rotation, and we will see if he shows signs of what we saw in Spring Training that he had fixed his mechanics.

Here is your Baseball Savant Statcast link for the game.
