Game #10 for the finale in Colorado

After 27 starts for the Colorado Rockies last year, Chad Kuhl now enters from the visiting clubhouse when he arrives today for his Washington Nationals. Kuhl pitched better by more than 1 1/4 runs in Coors Field last year than he did on the road. This is what the Nats hope will help them today in their finale in Colorado. In this four-game series, the visitors from Washington have pocketed two wins so far and can win their first series with a curly W today.

The Nats will face the right-handed Ryan Feltner in this getaway game. We will see how Nats’ manager Dave Martinez pencils together his lineup card. Expect Dom Smith and Keibert Ruiz back in the lineup after a rest day yesterday. Stone Garrett is the hottest player in Nats/Expos history to start a stint with the franchise in their first nine plate appearances as Garrett has a .778 OBP.

Did you have Garrett, Victor Robles, MacKenzie Gore, and Alex Call as your Top-4 most valuable Nats for the first nine games of the season? Don’t ask me how the .361 hitting Lane Thomas is not near the top of the Nats leaders.

Here are your Nationals starting pitcher’s ERAs through yesterday’s game:

No. 5 Starter: Patrick Corbin 8.00 ERA
No. 4 Starter: Chad Kuhl 7.20
No. 3 Starter: Josiah Gray 4.91
No. 2 Starter: Trevor Williams 4.35
No. 1 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 2.38

The numbers are trending better for the Nats’ starters and who would have guessed that the starting pitcher’s ERAs would improve in Colorado for Williams and Gray? Hopefully Kuhl can follow the lead of those two or even match what Gore put up on Friday.

Can you believe we are already at the tenth game of the season? A week from today will mark the 10 percent completion mark in the season. The sample sizes are still miniscule and it is difficult to make many concrete assessments on this Nats’ team except to say that Gore is really good.

Here is your Baseball Savant Statcast link for the game.
