Click to Read an Important Member Update Regarding Our Comment System
We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.

Well….. at least we had opening day. This afternoon was an example of the kind of lackluster, mediocre ball that I think a lot of us came into the season expecting to see. The Nationals got boatraced from the very beginning this afternoon, as the Cubs put up a four-spot in the second inning to take the lead against Miles Mikolas, and never looked back en route to a 10-2 Chicago victory.
The Washington Nationals play their second game of the 2026 season, and the team chose Miles Mikolas as their starter. Maybe there is a reason with this move. Can you help the Nats win a series today? Local time first pitch is 1:20 pm but 2:20 in DC. Hopefully all of the TV issues have been resolved at this point in time.
Does that read like a football headline? It should, you rarely win with four turnovers, yet the Washington Nationals did despite some crucial mistakes.

With this Opening Day win, that was the Washington Nationals’ first since 2021 against the Atlanta Braves, and their first road Opening Day win in eight years when the Nats won in Cincinnati. Blake Butera became the fifth manager in Nats history to win his inaugural Opening Day game. Those other four managers were Dave Martinez (2018), Dusty Baker (2016), Matt Williams (2014) and Davey Johnson (2012). And three of those four managers all went to the playoffs in their first year — the only one who did not was Martinez, who won the World Series in his second year.

Sometimes all I can say is, WOW!! As the winter glum subsides, the outside scenery begins to come alive, the tarps are lifted from ballparks nationwide, and the fresh chalk lines can be seen for the first time since the previous fall, one day is circled on the calendar each year as greater than the others: Opening day. A day for buzz, excitement, dreaming, and celebrating the game that seemingly makes life worth living.
This year it reminds us to savor everyday we get to watch this great game as this annual holiday looks unclear next year. That’s the last I’m going to talk about any sort of lockout possibilities for awhile, especially today, because the Nationals just absolutely blew my mind! I’ll admit, in 13 years of following this team, I entered this opening day with the fewest expectations of any of the prior 13, but boy were we treated to something special today. Not only did the Nationals win on opening day for the first time in three years, the offense treated us to a ten-run outburst on a blustery afternoon at Wrigley. Lets get into it.
If Mother Nature cooperates, we will have Opening Day baseball for the Washington Nationals from Wrigley Field. Of course everyone back in the DMV will be scrambling to figure out how they will watch the game on their televisions with the new network configurations. Even people with Nationals.TV subscriptions want to watch on their big screen and not their computers, and if you have a Smart TV — you can get it to work. This is a test run beginning with the pre-game show at 1:30 PM in D.C., 12:30 PM in Chicago, and 10:30 AM on the Pacific Coast.
It’s that time again! Opening Day of the 2026 season kicks off Thursday for the Washington Nationals.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 p.m. ET at Wrigley Field. It’ll be LHP Matthew Boyd starting for Chicago, taking on Nats RHP Cade Cavalli. This is Cavalli’s first time on an Opening Day roster, let alone having the honor of starting on Opening Day.
Yesterday, we were invited to a top influencer luncheon with Jason Sinnarajah, the new President of Business operations for the Washington Nationals. He just passed the 60-day mark in his tenure. There was no set agenda, just a lot of information shared at the table. Sinnarajah wanted to hear it all — negative and positive. And this was a positive group that was there to help. There was also a nice discussion before he arrived in the room.
We were asked not take photos, and not to record the conversations, so we apologize in advance that we have no pictures or direct quotes. Sinnarajah and the Nats’ VP of Communications, Valerie Todryk Krebs, were the attendees from the Nats’ side. At the table were a nice cross-section of the Nats “social media influencers” scene. The social media person from 106.7 was an attendee, and representatives from Ladies Who Like Baseball, Federal Baseball, and The Nats Report were there. A few invitees could not make it. But for the people who were there, the discussion was lively and informative with some great perspectives.

The Washington Nationals have added infield depth, acquiring Jorbit Vivas from the New York Yankees in exchange for right-handed pitching prospect Sean Paul Liñan. To make room on the roster for Vivas, the Nationals designated Rule-5 Draft pick Griff McGarry for assignment.
