The Washington Nationals play their second game of the 2026 season, and the team chose Miles Mikolas as their starter. Maybe there is a reason with this move. Can you help the Nats win a series today? Local time first pitch is 1:20 pm but 2:20 in DC. Hopefully all of the TV issues have been resolved at this point in time.
Another reminder, here are you cable and dish and streaming options other than Nationals.TV which is about $8 a month if you pay the $99 upfront. Being told that subscription also gives you access to all of the Nats minor league games that are televised.
The Nationals bullpen had to cover 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday, and with the day-off yesterday, everyone but Brad Lord should be rested and ready. The bullpen bent but didn’t break and only gave up one run.
The Nats will face righty Cade Horton who some of the Nats players have faced before. CJ Abrams, James Wood and Luis Garcia Jr. have all hit him well in the one game they faced him. Per manager Blake Butera, Abrams is out due to a death in his family. There was a lot of debate on Abrams not running out of the box on Opening Day when he was thrown out at second base, and caused the team to waste a challenge. It wasn’t addressed by the media in the postgame or any followup from Butera until today, two days later. And here is what Butera said:
