For Washington Nationals general manager, Mike Rizzo, the trade deadline always creates opportunity. So far, he has already pulled off two trades. Before the All-Star break, Rizzo dealt Hunter Harvey to the Royals for Cayden Wallace and a Comp Round draft pick that was used to select Caleb Lomavita. And after Saturday’s game, the Nats’ GM traded Jesse Winker to the Mets for a Double-A pitcher, Tyler Stuart — a 6’9″ 250 pound right-hander.
The Nationals have quite a few other tradeable assets as well (alpha order):
Before you over-react to Corbin’s name on that list, we will cover below why Corbin is on the list.

There were some who were nervous as to whether Caleb Lomavita would sign after he dropped 21 spots from the No. 18 ranking that Baseball America had him at as a draft prospect. The Washington Nationals still have not won against the San Diego Padres in a game this year. Sure, the Nats have the last laugh with CJ Abrams, MacKenzie Gore, and James Wood all coming over in the Juan Soto trade with the Padres, plus indirectly Keibert Ruiz came over in the Trea Turner trade with the Dodgers, and Turner was once acquired by the Nats in a blockbuster trade with the Padres. Additionally in the minor leagues the Nats have Jarlin Susana and Robert Hassell III as the other two players acquired from the Padres in the Soto trade.

The Washington Nationals had a day-off yesterday after a weekend sweep of the Reds, and now have to face the Padres. The Nats went to San Diego at the end of June and were flying high until the Padres set the Nats down and knocked the Nats out of the Wild Card picture. Now the Nats are looking to wreak havoc on the Padres in Nationals Park.
The Nats stars of Sunday’s game was James Wood with the big bat, and pitcher Jake Irvin on the mound. It is good to see different players stepping up for the Nats in each game.

We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
