Spring Training Game #4 Nats and Phillies

Another game with no television coverage, and fortunately we have radio coverage. We would all like to see the quality of these at-bats, especially with a lineup with so many players competing for spots to make the team. The Phillies travel to West Palm Beach for this one, and the Nats will head to Clearwater later this week to play the Phillies in their Spring Training stadium.

Two regular starters, CJ Abrams and Dylan Crews, will be in the lineup along with Jake Irvin as the starting pitcher. The rest of the lineup is made up of a couple of bench players and five guys trying to make the roster like Christian Franklin, Orelvis Martinez, Yohandy Morales, Abimelec “Abi” Ortiz, and Joey Wiemer.

The Nats are dealing with some minor injuries. Jacob Young took a pitch off of his wrist on Wednesday and will not see game action today. Luis Garcia Jr. is dealing with a hamstring issue, and they will work him back slowly.

Since arriving in West Palm Beach, the Nationals have enjoyed a new energy around CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches. “Letting them know what we’re about and our expectations as a staff, front office and organization,” Manager Blake Butera said. “A lot of new faces, obviously. Also letting them know that this is a fully clean slate. They get to write their new chapter. What that looks like is totally up to them.”

A source tells us that a few of the pitchers are ramping up slowly like Miles Mikolas and Foster Griffin. If all goes well, our source says we should see Griffin next week in his Nats’ Spring Training debut.
