Game #138 A goodbye to long road trips

With an early afternoon game, the Washington Nationals have a chance to get a win after a tough ninth inning loss last night when the Cardinals scored five runs to walk-off on the Nats. Statistically it was not a blown save, but we all know it was one of the worst meltdowns in a final inning in Nats history.

The Nats will fly to Philadelphia after this game as part of four final road trips which are all within the NL East and the east coast. That is how close we are to the end of the season for the 48-89 Nats. They must go 15-10 to avoid 100 losses. It is doubtful after last night’s loss that the Nats can play .600 baseball for the remainder of the season.

A little while ago, Victor Robles was scratched from the starting lineup. MASN’s Bob Carpenter reports that Robles was scratched with a sore neck. The team has Josiah Gray back on the mound for this finale game in the series, and he will face Adam Wainwright.
