Game #54 marks one-third done with the season!

The season’s sample sizes are no longer small at the one-third mark in the season. The Phillies marked today with the first firing of a manager this year as they parted ways with Joe Girardi. The Washington Nationals only made moves of need today based on an injury and a paternity leave. Lefty Josh Rogers landed on the 10-day IL with a shoulder issue, and Dee Strange-Gordon had a baby this morning.

Brought back to the roster were righty Andres Machado and infielder Lucius Fox. With Luis Garcia starting, Fox will be added to the bench depth.  Machado was just with the team for the doubleheader against the Rockies.

On the mound for manager Dave Martinez is Josiah Gray who was drafted by the Reds and then traded to the Dodgers. Catching Gray is Riley Adams, and it will be Lane Thomas in leftfield and batting second in the lineup.
