Nats win the series; Enny Romero save; Scherzer gem; Nats win 4-2

The Nationals finish this homestand with a 3-3 record and improve to 19-9 overall which is 10 games above .500 as they win this series against a much improved Arizona Diamondbacks team.

Max Scherzer pitched a gem and had his no-hit stuff working into the 4th inning today and was victimized for one run over 7.0 innings while striking out 11 batters, and Max had 2 hits today with a key RBI single to score the first run of the game.

For the bullpen, Matt Albers had a hold and has kept his ERA at a perfect 0.00. Enny Romero threw several pitches at 100+ MPH and earned his first save with the Nationals. Joe Blanton started the 9th inning and immediately gave up a home run to Paul Goldschmidt to cut the lead to 2-runs, and Dusty Baker replaced him with Enny Romero who was absolutely electric.

Ryan Zimmerman was 1-3 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored and Michael Taylor was 2-2 with 2 walks but could not score a run at no fault of Taylor’s. Anthony Rendon had the game winning RBIs on a 2-run double. Unfortunately Jose Lobaton was 0-4 and left 9 men-on-base, and he stalled 2 golden opportunities for the Nationals to put the game out of reach.

Bryce Harper exited the game early due to groin tightness.
