Game #130 Nats will place Alex Call on the 10-day IL

The Washington Nationals had found something special in Alex Call who was a sparkplug in so many ways for the Nats. In two separate callups, Call said that he had made a mechanical tweak but also a mental adjustment that had changed his game. In his 30-games this season, Call batted an impressive.343 with a .950 and delivered some clutch hits including another memorable walk-off. This time, Call was hitting with power and a consistency at the plate. Unfortunately, his season might come to an end as he suffered, per our source, a tear in his plantar fascia in the heel of his left foot. He will head to the 10-day IL.

In baseball’s twists, Dylan Crews is getting called up on Monday, and it would have pushed Call into a fourth outfielder and DH role as it was — and now looks like Call will be lost for a while. The good news, if you are an optimist, is that many thought this was an achilles injury that would have cost Call most of the 2025 season too.

Breaking news: Dylan Crews to debut on Monday against the Yankees

The news everyone was waiting for on a Dylan Crews debut looks to be coming on Monday at Nationals Park against the Bronx Bombers. The game was nearly a sell-out prior to the Crews news of a call-up, and now will almost certainly get above the 39,000 attendance level. This is also the first game in Nats Park for Juan Soto as a member of the NY Yankees.

Game #126 Nats home for 3; No Dylan Crews

The Washington Nationals put together a nice win on Sunday to get back to Washington, D.C. with 56-wins and a one-win behind last year’s record at this time. With speculation growing that top prospect Dylan Crews would make his debut today — that will not happen. That seemed to be the talk of the day on social media. The team did make several roster moves at the MLB and minor league level today.

The Nats activated Joey Gallo from the 10-day IL after he injured his hamstring on June 11. It took Gallo over 2-months to make it back, and to open a roster spot, Travis Blankenhorn was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Also, Robert Garcia returned from the bereavement list, and Orlando Ribalta was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Notable moves on the minor league side can be found on this LINK.

Bargain Bobblehead Sale for Charity

As a Nats season ticket holder since 2005, I’ve accumulated a whole lot of bobbleheads over the years. Before I retired, I had quite a display in my office.  But now, many are in storage boxes gathering dust or cluttering up my house, and sadly, it’s time to part with them.  So I’d like to offer these soon to be homeless bobbleheads to any Talk Nats reader who might want them.
