The Washington Nationals went into the first game of their series against Seattle and fell flat in all aspects of the game. If not for a 450+ foot homer by James Wood, the game would have ended in a shutout. Tonight, it is Trevor Williams who gets another start. You might have thought that the team would have gone back to Brad Lord for the start and pushed Williams into the bullpen. This afternoon, Cade Cavalli pitched his best game at Triple-A. Williams could be pitching for his starter’s spot tonight as next Tuesday’s opener against the Cubs would be the spot if general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez shake up the rotation.

We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
