For five innings last night, Jake Irvin was tremendous. The Nationals held a 3-0 lead as he began the bottom of the sixth inning, and that’s when things began to fall apart in his face on the first pitch of that inning. The Nationals played bad defense, got some rough calls from the umpires, and had some collapses on the bump last night, leading to a loss in game three of this four game set. If only.

The 2025 season has been a challenging one for the Washington Nationals, marked by a “frustrating brand of baseball” and key injuries. As a non-contending team for the sixth consecutive season, the newly led front office has shifted some focus from this season’s win-loss record to holding try-outs on their MLB roster. Therefore, the September roster expansion, which increased active players from 26 to 28, presented a critical proving ground for two more players. This is not for a playoff push but for systematic evaluation of organizational talent.

The Arizona Fall League rosters and schedules have been set with the Washington Nationals 8-player roster as part of the 2025 Scottsdale Scorpions. With the Tigers, Astros, Mets, Giants and Nats all on the Scorpions, that roster looks to be loaded with talent that will include the №2 prospect in baseball, Kevin McGonigle, from the Tigers farm system.
Here are the players the Nats are sending: Pablo Aldonis LHP, Austin Amaral RHP, Jake Bennett LHP, Sean Paul Liñan RHP, Jared Simpson LHP, Seaver King INF, Sam Petersen OF, and Ethan Petry OF/1B.

Last night, we got to see a version of Mitchell Parker that we’ve been longing for since late April, and it was awesome for those first 7.0 innings. He was shoved for another inning which we can all debate whether that was a good/bad idea. And it added drama as that 7-1 lead had turned to the Nats holding on for dear life with the winning run in the batter’s box in a 7-5 final score.
Parker had not gone deeper into a game since April 22nd, but he kept the Marlins’ offense at bay until he exited with bases loaded and 7⅔ innings in the books to earn the W and pace the Nationals to their fourth consecutive win — and seventh win in eight games. The teams best mark of the season.

If you know baseball, you know Jayson Werth. He retired from baseball in 2018. His career, which spanned fifteen years included a World Series ring, an All-Star game, and multiple years of MVP votes. The baseball world was shocked on December 5, 2010 when Werth, a free agent at the time, chose the last place Nats as his final MLB team in a mega deal at the time that went for over $120 million.

The Washington Nationals put up a football score on the Marlins last night in a 15-7 blow-out. By doing so, interim-manager Miguel Cairo was able to rest his entire “A” bullpen, and even get CJ Abrams off of his feet for a couple of innings. Tonight, the Nats have LHP Mitchell Parker on the mound as he tries to solidify the finish to his season.

Well that was fun. The Washington Nationals and the Marlins engaged in a good old fashioned slugfest in Miami tonight in front of a crowd large enough to maybe fill half of a kindergarten class. The fans that did show out, they got to see six home runs, four by the Nationals, and 22 runs in total. It was a 19-hit outburst by the Nationals’ offense that spurred them towards this game one victory, highlighted by a six-run fifth inning that put this one in firm control.

The Washington Nationals needed a clutch hit from Josh Bell yesterday, and they got a pinch-hit 3-run homer that gave the Nats a win. Several Nats stepped up in that 9th inning including Bell, Robert Hassell III, CJ Abrams, James Wood, Daylen Lile, and Brady House.
For the Nats today, Cade Cavalli gets his first start in Miami. Hopefully, he can replicate what he did in his first Nats’ start of his season.

We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.

Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
