Game #123 Nats finish it up in Milwaukee

If the Washington Nationals were in the playoff hunt, we would not be seeing all of these newbies in a starting lineup. Sean Nolin as the starting pitcher. Lane Thomas as the lead-off man. Riley Adams at catcher. Luis Garcia at second base. Carter Kieboom at third base. There are only two starters in today’s Nats lineup who were projected on Opening Day: Juan Soto and Josh BellContinue reading

Is the writing on the wall for Victor Robles?

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The sample sizes for the newly acquired players at the trade deadline are still small and many have been impressive while some of the incumbent players have rather unimpressive stats in large sample sizes. It has been clear for anyone analyzing Washington Nationals baseball for the last 12 months that Victor Robles should be on the hot seat. This is a results-driven business, but when the processes are bad, it is time for a change. Continue reading

Game #122 marks 40 remaining games!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The Washington Nationals will have 40 games remaining after today. The evaluation process is in full swing as the Nats will have Lane Thomas at leadoff and in center field. Victor Robles will be on the bench today. Is that significant? We will see what the Nats manager,  Dave Martinez, says after the game. Continue reading

The Nats are streaking!

With a Patrick Corbin gem, the Washington Nationals have just won three games in a row. Corbin had been showing signs of figuring it out and he pitched into the 7th inning surrendering just one run. How he did it was a different formula they tried, and on this night, it worked. Continue reading

Game #121 Nats are in Milwaukee with their new look!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

If the Washington Nationals were in the playoff hunt, they would have lucked out in this Brewers series this weekend because they will miss all of the Brewers’ “Big-3” starting pitchers of Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes, and Freddy Peralta. That trio has formed one of the most talented trios of starters in all of baseball. Continue reading

Next year’s rotation for the Washington Nationals could include Max Scherzer

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

When Max Scherzer was traded to the Dodgers almost three weeks ago, it felt like the next time we saw Scherzer in a Curly W would be at a 2019 World Series reunion party. The chances of him returning to Washington as a player would most likely be in the visitor’s dugout. That is the reality, even though general manager Mike Rizzo left the door cracked open with remarks yesterday on his radio segment on 106.7 The Fan. Continue reading

Nats sweep the Blue Jays in a comeback win!

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The Washington Nationals had not had a series sweep since June 30 until today’s sweep of Toronto. This one was a come from behind win as the Nats victimized their departed closer Brad Hand who they traded to Toronto for Riley Adams. Yes, the Adams who had a 5-7 (.714 batting average) series against the Blue Jays with a HBP. Certainly Adams channeled his inner Daniel Murphy to frustrate his former team. Continue reading

Riley Adams has ownage on the Blue Jays

Photo by Sol Tucker for TalkNats

The seven game losing streak is over, and Erick Fedde is 2-0 this season against the Dunedin Toronto Blue Jays.  Just over two weeks ago, Riley Adams was traded to the Washington Nationals from those Blue Jays in the Brad Hand deal, and he was a triple shy of a cycle tonight in his first game against them. Adams gave his best Daniel Murphy version of ownage going 3-4 with a home run, double, single, and 3 RBIs. In Atlanta last week, Adams broke Statcast with his first career home run, and in this game he might have broken a few hearts in Toronto.  Continue reading
