Click to Read an Important Member Update Regarding Our Comment System
We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.

We are a long way from Spring Training and the transition from the injured Cade Cavalli to naming Chad Kuhl as the fifth starter in the Washington Nationals rotation. This is an incredible opportunity for Kuhl who signed a free agent non-guaranteed minor league deal with the Nats, and he emerged as the sixth starter looking for a chance. Unfortunately, Kuhl’s opportunity only came this early because of Cavalli’s injury.
Note: Opening day was almost a week ago but due to some technical difficulties the prediction post is a little late this year.
Will the Nats win the World Series in 4 or 5 games?
Nats prediction threads this year are sure to be a source of negative vibes. But we are all Nats fans here so let’s try to mix in some positives with the negative. That being said, don’t hold back.
Some were calling MacKenzie Gore‘s win “crucial” as an early season test for this Washington Nationals’ team. Maybe not all salvage wins are created equal to others. After two consecutive poor starts by Patrick Corbin and Josiah Gray to begin this 2023 season, yesterday’s win calmed fans down. We all knew this team was not going to be great, but why panic when you knew going into the season that the Braves had the upper hand pitching Max Fried and Spencer Strider in those first two games to start the season.
Now we are up to the fourth game of the season, and we will get to see the Nats’ debut of Trevor Williams, who was perhaps the team’s biggest free agent acquisition on a two-year deal. Of interest to some, Chad Kuhl is listed as tomorrow’s starter which means that Corbin will start Thursday’s getaway game with an extra day’s rest. Manager Dave Martinez could have pitched Corbin on regular rest and skipped Kuhl’s start.
After watching MacKenzie Gore set down the New York Yankees over his final two starts of Spring Training, the Washington Nationals’ fans have to be cautiously optimistic about their trade for him in 2022. The lefty was a top prospect who was drafted in the first round by the Padres. In his time with San Diego, he already has a few gems on his MLB record. We have seen what this southpaw can do when his 4-seam fastball is working because his two breaking pitches and changeup will just keep batters guessing.
The Washington Nationals looked so crisp for most of Spring Training. But for starting shortstop CJ Abrams, he did not have nerves of steel on Opening Day. His manager, Dave Martinez, said he was nervous, and that led to three errors that opened up the floodgates for the Braves to trounce the Nats 5-2 in the opener. As they say, today is a new day. It is also April 1. Be sure to guard yourself against April Fool’s pranks.
WASHINGTON, DC – September 28, 2022: Washington Nationals owner Mark Lerner on the field; (Photo by Sol Tucker/TalkNats)
Be seen and not heard is a mantra that many sports team owners follow. Mark Lerner has not spoken publicly for over a year. Instead he has used the written words to get his messages out to the fans. The last two written pieces were very optimistic, and his interview with Dan Kolko was a lot of optimism if you allowed yourself to really understand what was said.
There were not a lot of specifics in the five minute interview. But it really takes a few listens to make your own opinions. On selling the team, Lerner would not give a direct answer except to say they have not made any decisions, and they would look at all of their options. Sure, if someone offers him $3 billion to buy the team with no contingencies, then maybe he sells. Otherwise it sounds like it is business as usual.
Welcome to Opening Day 2023. When you don’t make the postseason, the offseason gets real long, and Washington Nationals’ fans have real baseball today after nearly six months without baseball that counts. This Opening Day is historic with all of the new rule changes. The Nats have the Braves in town just like 15 years ago to the day when Ryan Zimmerman hit the walk-off home run against Atlanta for the first game ever at Nationals Park. In 15 years since, some things have not changed, the stadium, despite some efforts, is still called Nationals Park. There is a scheduled day-off tomorrow and then these two teams play on Saturday and Sunday to wrap up the first series of the season. Expect full sunshine today but some chilly weather and 47ºF at first pitch at 1:05 pm. The game should see temps rise as the afternoon moves forward.
