Game #21 Looking for a Cavalli ace start

The Washington Nationals have to do two things today: Win and Cade Cavalli needs to have an ace start. After a terrible 1 1/3 innings in his last start, Cavalli has to get back on track and prove that he is the ace this team needs.

The Nats offense continues to chug along, and they are near the top of almost every offensive category. Now it’s the time that the pitching does their part.

With another short game last night from a starting pitcher, the bullpen continues to eat innings. Fortunately Clayton Beeter, Brad Lord and Mitchell Parker all got the night off. Paxton Schultz bore the brunt of the bullpen’s burden last night. Here is a chart of usage on manager Blake Butera‘s bullpen:

The FanGraphs WAR chart is accumulating data. This will start to give us a clearer picture in six weeks when the sample sizes get larger. The OAA defense stat requires a minimum of 10 defensive plays. We will start adding more statistics as the sample sizes get larger.
