Game #3 Winner takes the series

The Washington Nationals second game didn’t go according to plan. With some more rough defense, wind-blown baseballs, and what my gut tells me was some pitch-tipping, that game didn’t go according to plan. The teams will be back at it for the series finale this afternoon at Wrigley Field. The winner today takes the series. The Nats will then fly to Philadelphia for a 3-game series.

If you want a pitcher who is used to cold weather, the Nats have the Minnesotan, Jake Irvin, on the mound today.

With good bullpen management, the Nats should be fresh today for this one. What we don’t know is whether or not CJ Abrams is available due to a death in his family.

The Cubs are throwing a lefty starter today in Shota Imanaga. Will manager Blake Butera opt for Andres Chaparro against at first base after he missed two routine scoops in the dirt and didn’t backhand a grounder in the first game? Sometimes the juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

Baseball was supposed to be a warm weather sport, and we all knew Chicago was going to live up to its reputation of being the Windy City and cold. But players have to communicate better on flyballs and at least make the routine plays. That didn’t happen yesterday, and it was costly.
