Game #79 Irvin will try to repeat his success in Seattle

The Washington Nationals took another loss in their bullpen last night in Seattle. They had a chance to win three in a row, but it was not meant to be. The teams are back at it in the second game of this series.

Tonight, Jake Irvin takes the mound to try to replicate his success from his start five days ago. The Mariners have rookie Bryan Woo on the mound and the right-hander got nod over Chris Flexen who was DFA’d today. In Flexen’s place is ex-Nats reliever Trevor Gott.

“Those little things become big things, as we saw. We’ll talk about these things again tomorrow. Hopefully, [on Tuesday] we play a cleaner game because [that] game was close for a while there. It was a good game. The boys battled back, but I’d like to see us get through that one inning that kind of beat us.

— manager Dave Martinez said yesterday
