Game #9 on the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson

Today is a special day as we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s debut in MLB. Much has changed, but we have so much further to go. The suspected roster move we discussed yesterday with Dee Strange-Gordon happened as he officially got moved to the IL with no reason given which generally signals it’s Covid related. DSG came off of the 40-man roster which allowed general manager Mike Rizzo to claim a DFA’d ex-Toronto outfielder, Joshua Palacios  Added to the active roster in Pittsburgh is Donovan Casey who most recently was with Triple-A Rochester. Activating Casey has now made it three of the four players acquired from the Dodgers at last year’s trade deadline as they are on manager Dave Martinez’s roster. Casey joins Josiah Gray and Keibert Ruiz as those former Dodgers acquired in the Max Scherzer and Trea Turner trade. While Gray and Ruiz had limited MLB experience when they were acquired, Casey will make his MLB debut once inserted into a game. The Nats will have Erick Fedde on the mound tonight, and the Pirates will have RHP Mitch Keller.
