A Full Day of Prospects and young stars for Friday’s Recap

Not much going on for a six game slate (Rochester had a double header and a walk-off win in Game 1), but there was a little action for Friday. In Harrisburg, Richard Guasch gutted through five innings on 74 pitches to ultimately get a tough loss. He was followed up by Gerardo Carrillo who continues to have spotty outings. This time it came in the form of a one hit, one run, one walk, and one strikeout inning. In Carrillo’s inning of work, he threw 14 of his 25 pitches for strikes.

The Blue Rocks lost a tough one in extra innings, but were able to score seven runs with the help of Israel Pineda and Drew Mendoza notching two runs batted in a piece. Out of the three spot, Yasel Antuna continues to put up solid at bats – today he managed to work three walks.

The FredNats put up 14 runs, but is anyone surprised? Jeremy De La Rosa and Sammy Infante end up as standouts in a blow out victory. On the pitching end, Rodney Theophile has yet to give up a run through his first nine innings. He’s stringing good starts together and could emerge as an under the radar ace if he keeps dealing.

Donovan Casey got called up today to the Washington Nationals officially, taking the place of Dee Strange-Gordon who was placed on the IL. He didn’t get into Friday’s game, and we will see if he can make a good impression when he gets some playing time.
