Game #114 was rained out and now part of a 7-inning doubleheader

The wind came out of the sails on the Washington Nationals, not once, but twice today , as they blew two separate 3-run leads and eventually lost the game in a disappointing 8-7 final at CitiField in Queens, New York. Due to the rain yesterday, the earlier game became part of a day/night doubleheader.  Now it is raining again, and this second game is now in jeopardy of being postponed. Yesterday’s game was suspended in the second inning, and the entire pitching plan has changed.

The Nats announced that they would go with an opener for this game and will start off with Andres Machado as the first pitcher out of the ‘pen. The team activated lefty Sean Nolin for this game, and added Tanner Rainey as the 27th man for this doubleheader. Nolan has not appeared in an MLB game since 2015 for Oakland, and Rainey was demoted over a week ago to Triple-A Rochester.

UPDATED: The game was rained out last night, and manager Dave Martinez has Nolin starting this one.

The Mets are supposed to be starting Marcus Stroman for this one. Again, everything is subject to the weather right now. The lineup only has two changes from earlier with Tres Barrera in at catcher and Andrew Stevenson in leftfield. The bench is catcher Riley Adams, outfielder Yadiel Hernandez, first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, infielder Adrian Sanchez, and outfielder Gerardo Parra.
