Game #34 will have Max Scherzer for the Nationals

The Washington Nationals cannot seem to put all facets of the game together in a nine inning game. Last night Patrick Corbin gave up two runs and got zero in support and while there was some good defense for him — there was more plays that were not made.

For the Nats, they will start Max Scherzer tonight in Philadelphia with the hopes that he can stop this FOUR game losing streak. Fore! The Nats will face the Phillies big offseason free agent acquisition for the first time this year, and the team is very familiar with Zack Wheeler from his time with the rival Mets.

Manager Dave Martinez has put Michael A. Taylor back on the bench and starting Victor Robles and the other big change is at the 3rd base merry-go-round as Brock Holt will get his first start there, and that will move Asdrubal Cabrera to first base with the hopes of at least better defense than Eric Thames has provided.

In other news, the Nats have placed Javy Guerra on the 10-day IL with a hamstring injury, and he will be replaced on the roster by Kyle McGowin who was on the taxi squad.
