Game #28 is a game the Nats need in the W column!

The Nats for the last two weeks of baseball have been hovering around the .500 mark at 7-7 until last night, and in order to get things righted, this Washington Nationals’ team needs one of those long winning streaks to make manager Dave Martinez smile again.

For the Nats, they finally get back to one of their Big-4 pitchers sans Stephen Strasburg who cannot even be in the stadium because he is on the 60-day IL. On the mound tonight is Patrick Corbin, and he needs to get the Nats back on track. With Strasburg, he had surgery to try to solve the carpal tunnel neuritis he has been suffering from.

As we sourced this morning, the Nats are also actively pursuing a pitcher to add to the starting rotation before the Monday’s trade deadline at 4 pm EDT on August 31st. Things can change quickly and for today the bombshell was Carter Kieboom was optioned to minor league camp and Sean Doolittle was activated from the 10-day IL.

The Nats will carry 10 pitchers in the bullpen and four men on the bench with the move of Doolittle for Kieboom.

With Corbin on the mound for the Nats, the Phillies have Aaron Nola going for them. Like so many pitchers in 2020, Nola has been inconsistent this season. The Nats will have their lefty lineup in tonight with the switch-hitter Asdrubal Cabrera starting at third base, and he will also be batting third.
