The Nationals had their chances against the Yankees and in a game of inches that was the difference tonight in the end. In the beginning, it was a lack of taking advantage of the opportunities. The Nats split both series with the Yankees on the season and lose this one 4-to-2.

The Nationals finished 0-for-11 in RISP situations and scored their runs off of outs by Mark Reynolds. The struggles continue for Bryce Harper who was 0-for-4 while stranding 4-runners. Adam Eaton, Trea Turner, Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto were all on the bases at least twice during the game.

Erick Fedde gave up 3-runs over 5 1/3-innings and was squeezed all night in the strike zone, and the bullpen gave up one run over the final 3 2/3 innings.

In other huge news, Mike Rizzo pulled off a trade for the Royals closer, Kelvin Herrera for 3 minor leaguers: Kelvin Gutierrez, Blake Perkins and Yohanse Morel. While none of them are rated as top prospects, these are three players with potential as Gutierrez and Perkins have been rated as the 9th and 10th best prospects in the Nationals system. Morel is a young work-in-progress pitcher.
