The Nats pitching was excellent, and the difference in the game was a solo home run by sub-Mendoza backup catcher Martin Maldonado.

You win almost every game you hold a team to 1 run over 9 innings, but today it was not meant to be.

The Nats offense was victimized by unlucky BABIP, good defense, perfect shifts, and a bunch of Ks.

The game had a first inning controversy when Dusty Baker challenged Craig Counsell’s lineup card had an issue. Dusty was correct and Ryan Braun on the lineup card was listed as clean-up instead of 3rd and Braun’s single was changed to an out.
