Well, unless you are at PNC Park or able to project Facebook on your TV — you will have to get creative to watch the game on your connected device which is sure to make today a nightmare for many people who don’t even subscribe to Facebook. Jeremy Hellickson pitched a 5-inning shutout with a 2-run lead he received from an Anthony Rendon home run. Hellickson pitched well and could have gone deeper in the game. In the top of the 6th inning with bases loaded, manager Dave Martinez pulled Hellickson to add-on runs and sent in pinch-hitter Mark Reynolds who walked. The Nationals scored 3-runs in that 6th inning which proved enough for the Nationals to get this win and move to within 4 ½ games of the Atlanta Braves and 5½ games of the Phillies. Continue reading

Every game is crucial for the Nationals as there is less than 45% of the season remaining, and the Nationals could really use a win tonight and for starter Jeremy Hellickson to go deep into the game. With that said, it is too soon to talk about the team going into “sell” mode when they are only 5 ½ games out of first place, but it does not stop the salacious rumors of trading Bryce Harper and others. Trade talks involving Harper get more newspapers sold, extra TV viewership, and give websites a boost of traffic and views and clicks. Those tantalizing tidbits when you see those headlines you hate — usually get you to click. It’s human nature that people want to talk about it. Continue reading
It’s great to have All-Star players on your team like Scherzer, Doolittle and Harper, and the Washington Nationals have other star players like Trea Turner, Anthony Rendon, and Juan Soto who are near the tops of baseball in analytics. This week, Mark Reynolds took home the hardware of Player of the Week and beat out his teammate Trea Turner who also had a spectacular week with the bat and glove. With all of this star power that the Nationals possess, wins just don’t come easy for a team that used to be built on starting pitching. Continue reading
You always hope that the “behind the scenes” votes would get the All-Star game voting right. Last year, the leagues best 3rd baseman, Anthony Rendon, was a snub. The Nationals were in first place and had five players chosen: Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Zimmerman, Daniel Murphy and Bryce Harper. In today’s loss, the bullpen had to cover 5 full innings, and there was nothing pretty about this game. The pitching was awful, the defense was uninspiring, and the offense fizzled out when they had chances to blow the game open. The top of the line-up was 0-14 stranding numerous runners. You just never know what manager Dave Martinez‘s sleepless nights are like as he spoke last night about how he would not sleep well as he tried to get Mark Reynolds into today’s line-up. He found a way. Reynolds will start at 3rd base. Martinez found a way to get the smoldering hot bench player another start. No word yet how well Davey slept last night. The Nationals win a laugher at 18-4 behind 7 innings from Max Scherzer, and 10 RBIs from Mark Reynolds who padded his stats after his walk-off home run last night to add 2 more home runs in a 5-for-5 night that was a triple short of a cycle. In his last 3 games, Reynolds is 6-for-6 with 5 runs scored and 11 RBIs with 3 HR, double, 2 singles and a Walk-off. Tonight his 10 RBIs tied a Washington Nationals record set last year by Anthony Rendon. Reynolds is the 15th player in MLB history to record at least 10 RBIs in a game. Reynolds with Trea Turner set a record as the only pair with at least 8 RBIs in a week. Continue reading

We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
