There will be a few roster moves tonight as Erick Fedde comes off of the IL and will start tonight in Seattle. The Washington Nationals mad to move a pitcher off of the roster, and it turned out to be Tyler Clippard who was DFA’d. Manager Dave Martinez already said that Cory Abbott would not stay in the starting rotation, and would move to the bullpen. Also, Tres Barrera was sent back to Triple-A and changed places with Riley Adams. Continue reading

For some fans who have been out of it for a while they might be wondering why Josh Bell and Juan Soto are in Padres jerseys, and C.J. Abrams is in a Washington Nationals jersey. That blockbuster trade has propelled the Nationals farm system into a top-half of the Majors’ farm system. It is much better than the Nats’ preseason rankings of bottom of the barrel — that’s for sure. The Nats have Abrams starting at shorstop tonight, and MacKenzie Gore is on the 15-day IL and will do some throwing this week as he recovers from some arm soreness. Continue reading

The Washington Nationals have a series to win today versus the Cubs. After today’s game, the Nats will fly to San Diego for a 4-game series on a west coast trip.
The team still does not have a walk-off win this year and failed last night to get their first walk-off of the season. In full seasons in baseball history, 1995 Expos and the 1978 Cardinals went an entire season without a walk-off (h/t Marc Goldstein). The Nationals are the only team in the last 75 years without a grand slam home run in a season. With only 44-games remaining, we are running out of time for 2022. Continue reading

Yes, the Washington Nationals are giving Patrick Corbin his 24th chance of this season to start tonight’s game, which comes after 31 chances last year. In back-to-back seasons, Corbin leads the league in losses,and earned runs surrendered. His 7.02 ERA is not acceptable, but advanced metrics used to blame the defense for a large portion of the failures. Used to. Much of this is on Corbin and the hard contact he is giving up, and the lack of a putaway pitch. In his last two starts, he did not even make it out of the first inning. Last week, the Nats skipped his start in the rotation. So, Corbin should have a fresh arm. Should. Will this productive side-session that Corbin had with coaches and the analytics team make a difference? I guess we will see. Continue reading

Today’s story begins with the Washington Nationals calling up their top prospect per the Baseball America rankings. Yes, CJ Abrams gets the call after Luis Garcia injured his groin and was put on the 15-day IL. Manager Dave Martinez also said that when Garcia returns, he will play at second base rather than shortstop where Abrams will be playing. That move should help the team defense. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.

Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
