Click to Read an Important Member Update Regarding Our Comment System
We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.

We have some evening baseball at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches with the Washington Nationals as the visiting team against the Houston Astros. The Astros will pitch the other Luis Garcia and the Nats have Trevor Williams on the mound. Continue reading →
Our general manager Mike Rizzo might say he doesn’t care about prospect rankings, but when things are good like a Top-10 ranking you take it. MLB Pipeline ranked the Nats’ farm system today at №10 to go with Baseball America’s №7 ranking. It is nice to hear and also to see the progress being made by the Nats of the future. Looking a few years into the future is like dreaming. Again, a year ago the Nats’ farm was ranked last in MLB. Today, it is in the upper-third of all farm systems thanks to the haul received back in the Juan Soto trade. There are enough team-controllable players and top prospects to fill every spot for the position players plus some backup bench spots in the year 2025, and that does not even include possibly the best Top-4 of college players in any draft in recent history in which the Nats pick second in July’s draft. This will be MacKenzie Gore‘s final tune-up in Grapefruit League play this year as the 11-9-2 Washington Nationals take on the Yankees in West Palm Beach. The good news is that manager Dave Martinez for the first time this year has his “every day” lineup with the return of Joey Meneses from the World Baseball Classic as well as penciling in his other eight starters for the same game. While Meneses is in left field today, that appears to be to give Corey Dickerson a DH game. Continue reading →
The Washington Nationals continue to trim their roster as Opening Day is nine days away. Washington’s management has optioned OF Stone Garrett and Jose Ferrer to Triple-A Rochester. Both of them were considered strong possibilities for the roster just a month ago, but both underwhelmed in their numerous opportunities they had. These two players also had the advantage of being on the 40-man roster — but in the end, it did not matter. At the same time, INF Leonel Valera was sent to Minor League camp. None of the moves were shocking, but all three players could be called up to Washington during the season. Continue reading →
Winter is officially over. Spring has sprung and hopefully the sun is shining where you are. The Washington Nationals are in Jupiter today to face the Cardinals. It is Josiah Gray for the Nats and Jack Flaherty for the Cardinals. Continue reading →
On February 14, 2022 the Orioles appealed the Nationals win in the MASN case over the disputed fees for the Nats TV rights, and on March 14, 2023 the case was heard by the NY Court of Appeals. Thirteen months later!!! “Justice delayed is justice denied” clearly does not apply in New York state.
Here is the video of the hearing, it was a quick 30 minutes. Surprisingly watchable, the justices often interrupting the lawyers representing each team, asking pointed questions.
For a Spring Training game it does not get better than Justin Verlander on the mound for the New York Mets. If we had vintage Patrick Corbin of 2019, we would call this a pitcher’s duel. Oh well, let’s see what Corbin does in this one as he might be named the Washington Nationals starting pitcher for Opening Day — and that is less than 10 days away! Continue reading →
There are some prospects who have impressed in their limited opportunities via appearances during big league camp. The sample sizes are small as you would expect, and many of the minor leaguers have not had to face an ace like Framber Valdez as was James Wood‘s task last week. Every situation is unique in these glimpses we get; however, much credit to those who have flashed some brilliance in their limited opportunities. Some of those players are not from the top of the prospect charts except for Elijah Green. Continue reading →
Welcome to the 2023 Talk Nats season positional preview! Between now and Opening Day, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about a particular position, eventually covering every spot on the diamond. Below is a deep dive into the shortstop position. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section, and as always, go Nats!
The Washington Nationals will be rolling with CJ Abrams as their everyday shortstop during the 2023 season. Once a former top-20 prospect in all of baseball, Abrams is expected to lead the Nats this year in many categories and contribute to the lineup on a daily basis. He was the sixth overall draft pick by the Padres in 2019 direct from High School and was one of the key parts of the return package for All-Star Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell. WEST PALM BEACH, FL: Elijah Green and top prospects working on the backfields will continue into April; Photo published with permission given to TalkNats
While most minor leaguers will stay behind in West Palm Beach into April as they work in the warm weather before most depart for Fredericksburg, Wilmington, Harrisburg, and Rochester, there might be a lucky few who will get chosen by manager Dave Martinez and general manager Mike Rizzo to make the Opening Day roster for the Washington Nationals in 11 days. We are talking about the NRIs who were signed to Minor League deals and with a real shot of making this roster. Hobie Harris, Anthony Banda, Matt Adams, Michael Chavis, and Chad Kuhl top that list of hopefuls with at least two of them expected to make the Opening Day roster. Continue reading →
