The Washington Nationals showed up big last night, and they have plenty of work ahead of them to not get complacent on this road trip where they have won 3-of-4 games against the Twins and the win against the Mets last night behind the strong performance from Josiah Gray.

Just miles from New York City, Josiah Gray grew up in one of the toniest suburbs in America in Westchester County. It does not mean that he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth or had it easy. He lost his father to cancer just after he was drafted in the second round of the 2018 draft. While his family and friends from New York made the trek to Queens, New York to see him pitch last night, one seat was noticeably empty where his father was not able to physically be there. That emptiness never leaves when a loved one departs too soon. Last night his father was definitely with him in that celestial way when he delivered a pitch that might have reshaped his pitching life.

The Nationals saw what was likely their most complete performance of the year Tuesday night to open up a three-game series with the Mets, as Josiah Gray had what might have been the start of his career and the offense gave the runs it needed.

The Washington Nationals have their first meeting of the year with the New York Mets. If the Nats can reverse their record from last year, that would be a good goal. Today, the NY Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Nationals by a 6-0 unanimous decision.

The Nationals only mustered three hits Sunday as they could not pick up the series sweep of the Twins after taking the first two. The 6-foot-9 Bailey Ober, promoted by Minnesota this morning, went 5 1/3 solid innings for the Twins.

The Washington Nationals have a chance to do something special today and sweep a series for the first time since August 2021. The last time the Nats swept a 3-game series was in July 2021 before that infamous trade deadline. Yesterday, these young Nats pulled off an improbable win in the longest of Vegas odds when they beat Minnesota’s ace, Pablo Lopez, with Chad Kuhl going up against him. Lopez had entered the game with a miniscule 1.73 ERA and a new 4-year contract extension for $73.5 million. Lopez was bested by Kuhl who was signed in the offseason to a minor league deal.

We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.
